Yes, DCOM is Distributed COM
However, COM = Common Object Model
A DCOM is a protocol that enables software components to
communicate directly over a network in a reliable, secure,
and efficient manner. It was also known as Network OLE. It is
a Microsoft network strategy for responsing multi-tier
networking application.
What is that doing? Exactly what CORBA does.
