主题: Sybase Fix for ODBC Access to SQLServer 7.0
Many developers targeting the newly released Microsoft SQLServer 7.0 via
the PowerBuilder ODBC interface have reported a problem that manifests
itself as an ODBC Program Type Out Of Range error when working within
the PowerBuilder database painters. In general, the Sybase policy has
been for the latest version of PowerBuilder to be compliant with
upgrades to other vendor's server products within 90 days of the general
availability of those upgrades - for Microsoft SQLServer 7.0, that date
was November 16, 1998.
Because of the impact of this particular problem, Sybase is releasing an
Emergency Bug Fix (EBF) to the PowerBuilder 6.5 ODBC interface DLL that
has been shown to resolve the Program Type Out Of Range error in
preliminary testing. Testing and quality assurance is, however,
continuing internally to verify full compliance of both the ODBC
interface and the native interface to Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. There
is, therefore, the possibility that additional issues may continue to be
identified by the PowerBuilder development community. Those issues will
be treated with priority; however, since these newsgroups are not an
official means for obtaining Technical Support, it is incumbent on the
individual PowerBuilder developers and users to open cases and pursue
them directly with Sybase Technical Support at 1-800-8-SYBASE.
