18. take chances:意思是冒險,也就是 take a risk 或 take a chance 所以如果說:
He took chance s = He took a chance.
I will take many chances.
反之,take no chances 就是不冒險,很小心 (to be cautious;careful)
I take no chances=I take no risk
It was clear that he was taking no chances.
China took no chances and sent its army to reinforce the situation.
The soldier must take his chances in the battle.
Young people are more likely to take chances.
Some people are more prone to take chances than others. (prone = more likely)
I take no a chance)
19. dog's life:意思是生活中的困境或痛苦的日子 (hard and oppressive time or difficult time in life) 例如:
Over the past years she led a dog's life with her alcoholic husband.
I view being a chicken catcher would be a dog's life.
Many Chinese new immigrants in the U.S. initially endure a dog's life.
注意:不用 cat's life
(As a whole; a large group of people) , (照字面意義,就是 in mass) , (當副詞片語用) 。例如:
The audience applaused en masse upon the completion of his speech.

Con-men are those who will try to get all types of information about you and your family.
Be careful of con-men; they may try to rip you off.

這只用於第三人稱,所以不要說:“You are a walking dead man",因為不禮貌。
She is a walking dead woman.
They are walking dead persons (或 people) 。
23. take heart:意思是不必煩惱,鼓起勇氣,振作起來,不要悲觀 (cheer up; don't worry; don't let something get you down; be cheerful; don't be discouraged) 例如:
