1. Drag and drop question with an exhibit
which showed a client,
router and server with IP addresses next
to client, near side and
far side of router and server. Then you
got a box with IP
addresses. A numbered box contained the
place holders.
Scenario? TCP/IP has been installed.
Client cannot connect to
server. How must you trouble shoot?
Answer -You first had to drag 127.0.0.1 from the
box
of IP addresses and place in the box
numbered one, then the default
gateway ip address, then the near side of
the router IP address and
finally the IP address of server on the
remote subnet. A catch was
that they also provided you with IP
address of the far side of the
router on the exhibit but not on the box
containing the list of IP
addresses - however, you did not need this
as you had the IP
address of the remote server.
2. Another drag and drop question with an
exhibit which showed 3
subnets. DHCP was installed on the server
on Subnet A, WINS was
installed on the server on subnet B. You
were told that Subnet C
had non-WINS clients. You were given a box
with WINS proxy, DHCP
Relay Agent and two other bogus choices.
Answer - You were required to drag the WINS
proxy option and drop it directly onto the
exhibit on Subnet C which non-WINS clients, and
you were also required to drag and drop the DHCP
Relay Agent on Subnet B. (note, this question
can be rephrased!!! Just remember to drop the
WINS proxy on the non-WINS clients)
3. The hardcode question. You were told
that two applications are
running, each on a separate server. Each
server had a NIC and each
had separate 'hardcoded' IP address. You
need to move both
applications onto one server. How must you
configure the server(s),
Answer - Install one NIC and allocate both
IP addresses to the NIC.
4. You need to connect NT workstation to a
Unix server and require
authentication security.
Answer - Install (on the NT WS) Peer Web
Service, create a ftproot directory and disable
anonymous logins.
5. You have a client that cannot connect
to any host on his local
subnet via Explorer. TCP/IP is installed
and you successfully ping
the local loopback address. In addition,
you cannot even ping any
host on the local subnet.
Answer - invalid subnet mask
6. A client is unable to log on and you
suspect that the DHCP
server is sending a DHCPNACK. Which
utility can you use to detect
whether the client is receiving a DHCPNACK
message.
Answer - NetMon but I am unsure ... check
this one as it could be DHCP

subnet ids you will require.
Answer - One for each NIC and one for each
router interface.
13. You need to make all clients aware of
the IP address of the DNS
server on a network where DHCP is
installed.
Answer - global option.

need to add a resource
for the domain mail server. Which resource
record must you add?
Answer - MX

Internet. Remote users
use DUN to connect to the Ras server
through a local ISP. You need
to provide security so that remote users
can access your network
using only Point-to-Point Tunnelling
Protocol (PPTP). How should
you set up the Ras server?
Answer - activate PPTP filtering
16. There is a network named xxx.com consisting
only one subnet A. There is WS1 and DNS server
in one side of the router. On the other side,
there is a server Market. You run the command
ftp Market.xxx.com, but failed, why? (Choose
three)
Answer -
a) WS1 is not configured with the IP
address of DNS server
e) There is no entry of Market in the
HOSTS of WS1
g) There is no entry of Market in the DNS
server
(these were the options I chose, remember
the question and solution could be
rephrased!!! )
17. You are brought in as a consultant to
set up TCP/IP on a network
of Microsoft Windows-based computers. The
network is comprised of
five subnets, each with its own domain

is the most likely cause of the problem?
Answer- NTWA10 is not set up with the IP
address of the DNS server.

96. Match the following terms with its
definition(drag and drop)
Primary DNS server ______
Secondary Name server _______
Caching only server ______
Cache file ______
SOA record ______
Reverse Lookup file ______
Forwarder ______
Answer -
*Primary Name Server---Responsible for name
resolution for a "zone". Any
changes in configuration to the Primary Name
Server is automatically replicated to the
Secondary Name Server.
*Secondary Name Server--Maintains copy of zone
information that it receives from the primary
server or a secondary server. Provides
redundancy and reduces the load on the primary
name server
*Caching-only server--Does not keep a permanent
zone list. Caches resolved queries so it can
resolve a second query to the same name
immediately. Useful when placed at the ends of a
slow Wan connection, because they can answer
resolver requests but do not require zone
database transfers.
