dear young friends,
hi, no standard form or style is used for arti-
cles of humour. however, it's starting point is
self-depreciation, and its great enemy is conceit.
it is an attitude to life rather than the mere
ability to laugh at jokes. this attitude is never
cruel or disrespectful or malicious. the english,
they do not laugh at a cripple or a madman,a tragedy
or an honourable failure. sympathy or admiration for
artistic skill is felt to be stronger than laughter!
articles of humour follow no set rules for leads
or the body or the end of the story, as news stories
generally do. some conform to the straight news
style with a 5 W's summary lead but use of the novel-
ty lead is more common. they may be narrative, des-
criptive or expository. they tell stories, paint pic-
tures, explain conditions-----------but are fact, not
fiction. the chief rule in writing features is mak-
ing them interesting from beginning to end.
