这方面知识而不甚了了。现慢慢介绍一二。
(19) green-eyed monster
( 忌妒)
语出莎士比亚著名悲剧: othello << 奥瑟罗 >> 。
直译是:“绿眼妖魔” 意译是:“ 忌妒 ”。 原句为: o,
beware, my lord of jealousy; it is the green-eyed
monster which doth mock the meat it feeds on. ( 呵!
主帅，你要留心忌妒呵; 那是个绿眼妖魔，谁做了它的牺
牲，就要受它玩弄.) 现在: “ green-eyed monster ”
作为常用成语收入辞书，广泛应用。
e.g. when john's brother got the new bike,
( 约翰的哥哥买了一辆新自行车，忌妒使
the green-eyed monster made john fight with him.
约翰同他吵了起来。)
