9. 如果有人詢問事情,有的服務員往往一句「不知道」,或「去問別人!」拒人千里之外。也有人說:「你問我,我問誰?」「我不是告訴過你?為什麼你不了解?」老外比較願意幫忙,多半很有耐心,而且也會熱心地說:
I will find someone who can give you that information. (我去找位知道這件事的人); 或
I will consult with my boss and get right back with (to) you. (我去問老闆,再馬上回來告訴你。) ; 或
I will try to help you to the best of my ability. (我願盡力為你效勞)
最多只說:
I am sorry I don't have that information. (抱歉,我沒有那項資料。)
即使別人不了解,老外也會用不同方式,重新解釋一遍 (start again, but in differert way)
10. 有時客人多問一句,有的服務員往往還會怒火中燒的說:「我告訴過你,為什麼還要問?」或者說:「我不是負責人,別問我那麼多問題。」然而,老外多半還會帶有「自責」的味道說:
Maybe I did not explain it clearly enough. (也許我沒有解釋清楚) ,而後再客氣地用較明白的方式重複一遍。 (repeat it again courteously)
或者說:
Even though I'm not in charge, I'll do my best to assist you. (雖然我不是負責人,我願意盡力幫忙。)
11. 許多老中還有「貨一出門,概不退換」的作風,服務員往往會說:「不能退換,這是規則。」 (No exchange; that is the rule.) 有時還會板著臉孔說:「為什麼你買的時候不選好?」或者說:「去問賣給你的人。」但在美國,退換貨品,或退錢,十分方便,只要有收據就行。通常老外只說:
Would you like to exchange for another merchandise (or for something else) ? (你要換別的東西嗎?)
偶爾老外也會問:
May I know the reason for your return? (我能知道退換的原因嗎?)
一般只有關門大吉,清倉大拍賣時,才不准退換。這時老外會說:
The store is going out of business. So no exchanges are allowed. (本店即將停業,所以不能退換。)
或者說:
According to our store policy, no exchanges are allowed without receipts. (依照本店規定,沒有收據不能退換。)
必要時,老外也會說:
You may be better served by your original salesperson. (原來賣給你的售貨員也許能為你做更好的服務)
12. 有的店員售貨心切,如果顧客多問,就不耐煩,往往會說:「假如你不買,就不要問。」洋人對顧客較有耐心,一般都會客氣的說:
If you have any questions, let me know. (如果你有任何問題,可問我。)
或者說:
I will try to answer any questions you may have. (我會設法回答你任何問題)
13. 遇到顧客不滿意或埋怨時,常見有人說:「這就是這樣啊!」或者說:「我才不在乎你跟誰埋怨」,或「我不能解決這件事,你向誰埋怨都行。」老外多半會說:
I am sorry you are not satisfied. I will be happy to refer you to someone who can assist you. (很遺憾你不滿意。我請一位可以為你效勞的人。)
有時也說:
May I offer you a discount? (我能給你一個減價嗎?) ; 或
This is our policy. If you have any further questions, you may see our manager. (這是我們的規定,如果你有其他問題,可找我們的經理。)
甚至只說:
That's all I can do for you. (我已為你盡了全力)
或說:
I am sorry. I will not be able to handle your complaint. I will refer you to the higher level person. (抱歉,我不能解決你的埋怨,我會轉給高階層人員。)
14. 有的服務人員忙碌時還會說:「我越忙,你越打擾我,真煩!」但有訓練的服務員再忙,也會沉著的說:
I am sorry. I am really busy right now. May I get back with you in a few minutes? (真抱歉,我現在實在很忙,幾分鐘後再為你效勞可以嗎?)
或者說:
Mr. A will be happy to help you. (A 先生將會樂意為你效勞)
15. 遇到別人話說多了,有人會說:「別講太多,快點說!」或者說:「你講完了沒有?」老外通常只說:
Please tell me the problem (situation) as briefly as you can. (請以最簡單的方式把情形告訴我)
或者藉口說:
I am sorry. I have another meeting in ten minutes. (抱歉,我在十分鐘內還有一個會議。)
也有老美很有耐心,別人在說話,自己只好「傻等」,或說句:“Excuse me”,讓對方知道你在等候 (to acknowledge your presence),沒有再說別的。或者說:
Excuse me, can someone help me? (抱歉,有人能幫我忙嗎?)
16. 如果店舖打烊時間將到,有的店員會說:「時間到了,快點!」或者說:「你在幹嗎?快點!」也有人對顧客說:「快點付錢!」老外通常會在打烊幾分鐘前宣佈:
Our store is closing in ten minutes. (我們十分鐘內打烊) 或
Is anyone available to help you? (有人幫你忙嗎?)
顧客要付款時,也會說:
Let me take you to the cashier. (讓我帶你到收款員那裡)
或對顧客說:
The cashier is over there. (收款員在那邊)
