Dali, is the first village in which the main characters visit in Final Fantasy IX. There are two possible sources to which the name of the village was derived. The first source, which is the unlikelier one, is that of the Spanish painter and writer Salvador Dalí (1904-1989). He was a follower of the Surrealist movement and his belief in the movement was often reflected in his writings and art. The second source is that of the city of Ta-li that is located in the province of Yunnan in China. In the Mandarin pin-yin, Ta-li is spelt as Dali. The words 'Ta-Li' mean 'to rule with orders'. In 937 AD, Duan Siping founded the Kingdom of Dali which lasted until 1253 when it was conquered by the Mongolian ruler Kublai Khan. 大概就是说的Dali村的语源，第一个不必管，就是西班牙的一个超现实主义的画家的名字，他自己都说不象。最恐怖的是第二个来源： 这第二个来源是中国云南省的大理市。在普通话拼音里，大理拼写为“Dali”。“大理”这个词的意思是“以秩序来统治”（我英文不好，不知道这句话究竟该怎么翻，不好意思啊）。公元937年，段siping（我历史不好，不知道汉语名字）建立了大理国，直到1253年，大理才被蒙古领袖Kublai可汗征服。 恐怖吧？也就是说，我们在FF9里到达过云南？其实仔细一想也没什么，FF7里还有个五台呢，呵呵。 ----
