VOLUME ONE.September 1991
The revolutionary first issue of the CD with a book featured fab stuff like New Order, The Shamen and Throwing Muses, while introducing to the world Daisy Chainsaw (sadly decomposed) and Fortran 5 (sadly disappeared?). Also contained the lowdown on wallpaper, first used in Spain and Portugal about 1555. However, the sun-valve for unattended lighthouses was not invented until 1900 - by the Swede Gustav Dalen. Truly international, Volume contained user's instructions in English, French and Spanish. Other items included how to make a dance record, and some bollocks about architecture. A footnote of interest to people interested in `flaps' is the fact that Volume One featured a design modification known as `The Flap' which had to be discontinued due to legal action threatened by its `inventors'. Sold out.
