Ash Man
According to Norse mythology, the gods created Askr,
the first man, from an Ash tree.
Druids made their wands from Ash twigs, and witches
chose Ash from which to fashion their witchdolls.
Its closeness to humans meant that it was used as a predictor of human life and well-being:
if a parent wanted to find out if their weak child would ever grow strong,
they would split an Ash tree and pass the child through it.
The Ash tree was then bound up again, andif it
grew soundly, then it was a sure sign that the child would
grow strong again too.
