The 14th Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2005) has introduced a remarkable change in the selection procedure: all pianists who apply are welcomed to Warsaw without preselection!
They are expected to take part in the preliminary round which is judged by an all-Polish jury. At the end of this preliminary stage, not more than 80 pianists may pass and participate in the main competition which starts October 3rd, with a fully international jury, and which comprises two solo rounds and the finals with orchestra.
The other change is that there will be 12 finalists (instead of the usual six), and that only the top six will be ranked (just as is done at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, lately). The first prize is US$ 25,000.
大意是：所有申请者将会在华沙，由一个全部由波兰人组成的评委团进行预选。不超过80名选手会进入2005年10月3日开始的主比赛，这个比赛将由一个国际性的评审团担任。
另一大改变是，决赛者将由6位增加到12位，但最后只会选出前6名。
