Groove Armada After a phenomentally successful year, Groove Armada settled in and went home.... figuratively speaking... with their take on Back To Mine. The album series has some of the most talented DJs and producers of the moment pick their favorite chill-out tunes and mix them together for an album. Groove Armada follows Nick Warren, Dave Seaman and Danny Tenagalia with what they describe as a celebration of their musical influences and long-time favorites. As anyone knows who's listened to their much heralded debut album "Vertigo"or their live DJ sets, Groove Armada is not afraid to dig through dusty bins for some old vinyl groove. "Back to Mine" is an eclectic collection that flows from the mellowed GA mix of A Tribe Called Quest, all acoustic guitars and laconic delivery, sidesteps over a few sexy selections like Mica Paris' "I Should've Known Better" and ends with - of all things - Pharoahs from Tears for Fears. In between, they manage to squeens in Dayton's eighties warehouse rave "Sound of Music, Al Green's torrid interpretation of the Doors' "Light My Fire" with still enough room for the Sir Raymond Mang, Barry White and Schmoov. Superb if slightly odd sit back and chill tunes. Our all-time favorite and Groove Armada classic is Fatboy Slim's remix of "I See You Baby" which you can buy here Groove Armada is Tom Findlay and Andy Cato, who live, work and DJ regularly in London. Their rise to fame over the past two years has left not much time for hanging out at home, with a whirlwind DJ tour schedule and monthly residencies and remix requests rolling in as fast as the faxes for interviews. When it's time to record their music, the duo packs up everything they'll need and hides away in the most remote country cottage they can find.
