这是一张令人叹惋的专辑，按照古典唱片的评定方法，我相信它是“三星带花”。
这也是一张容纳了太多愤怒与沉思的专辑，其悲凉、内省的作品，犹如一曲曲自由的挽歌，在呻吟，在赞美……
专辑来自素有“摇滚女诗人”之称的Patti smith。
90年代Patti smith的成功复出，被目为乐坛上除白驹过隙的Kurt cobain之外的又一奇迹。它证明了摇滚不仅与年龄无关，而且与性别无关。事实上Patti smith自70年代以来一直具有重要的地位，这一次的复出，只不过算作添花之举。
我们不由一声叹息：这个坚强的女人，不服老的女人！
Patti smith生于1946年芝加哥。1967年来到纽约，逐渐开始她的诗歌，绘画与音乐创作。在一次大雨滂沱的夜晚，Patti smith无意中听到了The doors(大门)乐队的《Ride on the storm》，立马惊呆了：音乐怎么可以这样？音乐为什么能够这样？
结果是摇滚史上继60年代Janis joplin之后，又诞生了一个伟大的摇滚女性。
1975年，Patti smith领导了Patti smith group乐队，并于当年推出首张专辑《Horses》（马群）。这张专辑由先锋艺人John cale(“地下丝绒”乐队的贝斯手，键盘手)担任制作，确保了作品质量。在70年代朋克之火日渐旺盛之际，她的这张带有60年代摇滚风格的专辑受到了新老听众的一致好评，被舆论称为“摇滚乐的第二次复兴”。如今，这张记载了Patti smith青春足迹的专辑已列为十大朋克经典的必选之作。
在连续出了几张高质量的专辑之后，Patti smith复归沉寂——在喧嚣与骚动之中，她明智地选择了离开，选择了宁静。
1996年Patti smith推出了时隔8年的新专辑《Gone again》，这是一张纪念病逝的丈夫Fred smith(著名乐队MC5的吉它手)和Kurt cobain(Nirvana乐队的主唱)的专辑，标题曲是她与丈夫多年前创作的，表达了对丈夫、战友，以及在黑暗时代栉风沐雨，相濡以沫的怀念；《About a boy》遥相呼应于Nirvana的《About a girl》，献给一个后进天才的挽歌——一个充满母性情感的Patti smith在她那哀怨的唱腔中反映得淋漓尽致。
1997年，由于某种政治和道义上的原因，Patti smith推出了第七张专辑《Peace and noise》。出版这张专辑的直接原因是为了纪念民主志士，垮掉派代表William seward burroughs(1914—1997)。正如标题所揭示的，整张专辑表达了深刻的人文主义关怀，沉重的社会思考和自由主义的梦想。
专辑延续了Patti smith一贯的风格——艰涩难懂的诗歌氛围，旧时代的民歌理念。看来，Bob Dylan和The velvet underground的影响已经是深入到骨髓里的事情。开场曲目《Waiting underground》表明的不仅仅是一种独立音乐人的态度，更是一种愤怒，一种智性的文人的无力与反抗，这难道是又一个西西弗斯神话的悲剧性开始吗？“If you believe all your hope is gone,down the drain of your human-kind……”听着这样迟缓的旋律，冰冷的言语，你是否感到无望，或者略有所思？如果你没有丝毫触动，那么我肯定你已经死去，或者已经行尸走肉，唯剩一具漂亮的躯壳。
《1959》，一首亚非拉民主革命的墓志铭，来自街头可怜的平民百姓。“Listen to my story/Got two tales to tell/One of fallen glory,one of vanity/The world’s roof was raging ,but we were looking fine……”1959，街头的朋克小子肯定不知道发生了什么。“Freedom!freedom!……It was blood,shining in the sun!”FREEDOM,一个如此沉重的字眼，它总让鲜血去染红，并在鲜血中让人学会思考。“It was the best of times,it was the worst of times,in 1959.”
哗众取宠的时代，我们感触着一个唯美主义者的追求，一个理想主义者的失望，和一个厌世者的情怀。
音乐是不需要语言的，音乐传达情感。
Waiting underground。
我们沉默着，我们竟依然沉默着。
鲁迅说过，不在沉默中爆发，便在沉默中死亡。
而我们是不会死亡的，至少我们不怕死亡。
总有一天，我们要向历史说话，让历史作出回答。
