Ubuntu 是一个基于 Debian GNU/Linux 的操作系统，支持 x86, amd64 and ppc 平台。"Ubuntu" 这个词的来历，主页上这么写着： 

"Ubuntu" is an ancient African word, meaning "humanity to others". Ubuntu also means "I am what I am because of who we all are". The Ubuntu Linux distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.

最新的版本是 5.04-preview "The Hoary Hedgehog", 可以到 http://www.ubuntu.com/download 下载，也可以到 http://shipit.ubuntulinux.org/ 让他们免费寄过来。

我也有几张 Ubuntu 的盘，现在大概还剩五六份 x86 的、五份 amd64 的和三份 ppc 的（每份两张：一张 Live-CD 和一张安装盘）；不过是 4.10 的（"The Warty Warthog", 去年预定的，现在才刚到手）。
